InfoPath end of support, 14 July 2026: what still works

Support for InfoPath 2013 ended on 14 July 2026, and InfoPath Forms Services was removed from SharePoint Online the same day. The forms people filled in are still .xml files, and their templates are still .xsn files. You can read them here, in your browser, without uploading them.

A folder of forms?

One PDF per form, plus one spreadsheet (CSV) with every field across all of them, built in this browser like the rest. It is not built yet. If you would use it, say so: the click is counted, and nothing else is sent unless you then leave an email.

What Microsoft announced

  • MC616550, in the Microsoft 365 message center (published 30 June 2023, updated 2 July 2026): InfoPath Client 2013 "will reach the end of its extended support period on July 14, 2026", and InfoPath Forms Services is removed from SharePoint Online on the same date. https://mc.merill.net/message/MC616550
  • MC1255407 (published 18 March 2026): after 18 May 2026, publishing new InfoPath forms, or updates to existing ones, is blocked in SharePoint Online. https://mc.merill.net/message/MC1255407

What still works

  • An installed copy of InfoPath 2013 does not stop at its end of support. It stops receiving fixes and security updates.
  • SharePoint Server Subscription Edition: a Microsoft Q&A moderator answered on 29 January 2026 that existing forms keep loading after 14 July 2026, without fixes or security patches, and suggested converting important forms to PDF as a fallback. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5746668/post-infopath-end-of-life
  • SharePoint Online: the forms no longer open in the browser there. The .xml files stay in their form libraries, and each library keeps its template in its Forms folder.
  • This site: drop a form with its template to read it, print it or save it as a PDF, with nothing uploaded.

Moving on without losing the old forms

Microsoft recommends Power Apps, Power Automate and Microsoft Forms for new forms, and offers no automatic migration tool (MC616550). Rebuilding a form does not bring its old submissions with it: keep the .xml files and their template together, and keep a PDF of the ones people will need to read.

What this viewer does not render

  • Secondary data connections — lists from SharePoint, a web service or a database — are not loaded. A drop-down shows the value stored in the form rather than the list's label.
  • Code in the template (managed code or script) and its rules do not run. Values that only code would have calculated are shown as they were stored.
  • Functions this viewer does not know are named next to the form and treated as empty.
  • Digital signatures in a form are not verified.
  • Pictures linked by a web address are not fetched; the address is shown instead.

Questions

Do my forms stop existing on 14 July 2026?

No. A filled-in form is an .xml file and stays wherever it was saved. What ended is support for the program that filled it in, and SharePoint Online's service that showed it in a browser.

Is this site part of Microsoft?

No. Not affiliated with Microsoft. InfoPath and SharePoint are named here only to identify the files and where they come from.
